Sheriff’s deputies arrested a dangerous fugitive hiding out in Cayucos, according to the County Sheriff’s Office.
At about 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 21, deputies working in conjunction with the District Attorney’s Office and law enforcement agencies in Texas, were able to find and arrest without incident, Blake Everett Reed, 32 of Hawkins, Texas, who was named on the “Texas Ten Most Wanted” list.
Reed was wanted for suspicion of “aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, assaulting a public servant, harassing a public servant, and evading arrest with a vehicle,” reads a news release from SLO County Sheriff’s spokesman, Tony Cipolla. “Texas authorities had been looking for Reed, who was considered to be armed and dangerous, and suspected he might be in the Cayucos or Cambria area.”
Deputies got some tips from the public and used old-fashioned police work, including surveillance, and members of the Narcotics Task Force and Gang Task Force arrested Reed without incident in the 900 block of Park Ave., in Cayucos.
The Sheriff’s Office were helped in the investigation by the Wood County Texas Constable’s Office Precinct 2, multiple law enforcement agencies in Texas, as well as the SLO County District Attorney’s Office, “which utilized a number of documents and warrants that led to the capture of Reed.” Reed was booked into the County Jail awaiting extradition back to Texas, where he will presumably stand trial on the above charges.
