More than 20,000 people lined Ocean Avenue in Cayucos on July 4 for the 2018 Cayucos Lions Club’s Independence Day Parade. With a theme of “Hip, Hip, Hooray — It’s America’s Day!” nearly 50 parade entrants marched, drove and rode through town. Trophy winners were: Judge’s Favorite — Mike’s Barber Shop; Best Float — Schooner’s Motowner’s Band; Best Decorated Vehicle — David Silveira & Kids; Most Humorous — Nana’s Bunch; Most Patriotic — Central Coast Convoy; and Best Showmanship — The Iron Constitutions. Judges were retired Marines Betty Cook and 1st Sgt. Jim Pickens and The Bay News Managing Editor, Neil Farrell who took these photos from the judge’s podium, a flatbed trailer.
