The Morro Bay Chapter of the American Association of University Women recently awarded $1,000 scholarships to two 2018 graduates of Morro Bay High School. Claire Gragson of Los Osos plans to attend U.C. San Diego, and major in marine biology.
She played basketball for MBHS all four years, and was captain of the varsity team her senior year. Gragson plans to pursue advanced degrees and work in marine research.
The other scholarship winner was Alexa Lodolo of Morro Bay. She’s been accepted to U.C. Santa Barbara where she will major in human biology.
Lodolo also hopes to master two additional languages — German and Spanish — and attend medical school to become either a physician’s assistant or a physician.
At MBHS she was a member of The Concert/Pep Band.
AAUW Morro Bay awards two scholarships annually for female students at Morro Bay High. They are selected by a committee of AAUW members and based upon applications and essays submitted by graduating seniors.
These scholarships are one of several educational outreach programs by AAUW Morro Bay and funded in large part by the Annual Morro Bay Garden Tour.
